Hello, I’m Emma Ewer—Christian children’s author, educator and founder of Bel🩷ved Study Co.™

I live in the beautiful Hunter Valley of New South Wales with my husband, our two wonderfully neurodivergent children and our much-loved fur babies—three cats and four dogs. Our home is colourful, creative, full of personality and rarely quiet. 😂🩷

I’m also autistic and ADHD, which means I experience the world with deep feeling, intense curiosity, creative energy and a brain that can turn a simple task into several unexpected side quests. 😂

For a long time, I noticed how often children who experienced the world differently were expected to adapt, hide their needs or become easier for the world around them to understand.

I wanted to create something different.

I wanted children to encounter stories that did not ask them to become someone else before they could belong.

Most of all, I wanted them to know the truth:

They are fully known, deeply loved and intentionally made by God.

The Heart Behind My Work

My work with children and families has taken many forms.

I have experience across early childhood education, Special Religious Education, outdoor education, NDIS disability support, ministry, community services, playwork, nature play and program development.

Each role has allowed me to see children in different environments and to notice the quiet questions they often carry:

Why am I different?
Is it okay to need help?
Do I belong here?
Does God understand me?
Was I made this way for a reason?

Those questions matter to me professionally, but they also matter personally.

As an autistic and ADHD woman and the mother of neurodivergent children, I understand the exhaustion of navigating spaces that were not designed with your nervous system, communication style or needs in mind.

I also understand the beauty.

Neurodivergent children are not incomplete versions of somebody else. They are thoughtful, creative, observant, funny, passionate and wonderfully individual people who deserve to be met with dignity.

That belief is at the heart of everything I create.

The Resources I Could Never Find

After teaching and then having children of my own, I kept encountering the same problem: I could rarely find the resources I was looking for.

I wanted resources that were beautiful and thoughtfully designed.

I wanted them to be genuinely Christ-centred—not simply decorated with a Bible verse as an afterthought.

I wanted resources that respected children’s intelligence, protected their dignity and made space for different ways of learning, communicating and experiencing the world.

So I would spend hours creating them myself.

I created for my own children, but I also created for my students—the children I taught, supported and cared for who deserved resources that reflected God’s love with both truth and excellence.

Over time, I began to wonder:

How many other parents are searching for the same thing?

How many teachers, ministry leaders, disability-support workers and carers are spending their evenings trying to create what they cannot find?

I knew I wanted more—not only for my own children, but for my students and for other families and educators who were in the same position.

That desire became part of the foundation of Bel🩷ved Study Co.

Bel🩷ved exists to create the beautiful, Christ-centred, accessible resources I once spent hours searching for—and then stayed up even more hours making myself. 😂

My hope is that our work saves another parent or teacher some of that time while giving them something they can trust, use and share with confidence.

Created With Care and Reviewed in Community

I do not believe meaningful resources for children should be developed in isolation.

The stories and resources created through Bel🩷ved Study Co. are checked and reviewed with input from people who bring different kinds of knowledge, professional experience and lived understanding.

Depending on the project, this includes:

Allied health professionals
Education professionals
Ministry leaders
Parents and carers
Neurodivergent people
My own children

Each person notices something different.

Allied health and education professionals can provide valuable insight into accessibility, communication, development and how a resource may function in practice.

Ministry leaders help protect biblical integrity and ensure our faith-based content remains Christ-centred and theologically responsible.

Parents and carers understand how resources are received in the reality of family life.

My own children offer something equally important: an honest child’s perspective. They help me notice whether a story feels engaging, whether its message makes sense and whether the resource connects with the people it was created to serve.

This process does not mean that every reviewer endorses every Bel🩷ved product or that our resources replace individual professional advice. It means I invite thoughtful feedback, listen carefully and revise where needed before releasing work into the world.

I want our stories and resources to be more than beautiful.

I want them to be responsible, useful, emotionally safe and worthy of the trust families, educators and ministry leaders place in them.

Experience, Training and Child Safety

Working safely and respectfully with children, families and vulnerable people is a responsibility I take seriously.

I hold and maintain:

A paid Working with Children Check
Safer Ministries qualifications through Australian Christian Churches (ACC)
Experience as an NDIS support worker
Early childhood education training
Special Religious Education training
Child-safety and child-protection training
Advanced first-aid training
Experience across disability support and community services
Outdoor leadership and program-development training

Qualifications and checks are important, but safe practice is also reflected in how children are welcomed and treated.

I prioritise clear boundaries, appropriate safeguarding, emotional and sensory safety, respectful communication and the dignity of every child.

Schools, churches and organisations are welcome to request relevant confirmation when discussing a professional author visit or children’s program.

How Made on Purpose Began

Made on Purpose™ began as an act of obedience.

The story follows Ezra Fox™, a sensitive little fox who sometimes finds the world too loud. Ezra notices what others miss, feels things deeply and needs quiet when everything becomes too much.

Through a tender encounter with the Shepherd, Ezra discovers that his differences are not mistakes.

He is seen.

He is understood.

He is loved exactly as he was created to be.

Writing Ezra’s story brought together so many parts of my own life: faith, motherhood, neurodivergence, education, ministry and the desire to make children feel safe enough to recognise themselves.

The story was also reviewed with input from allied health, education, ministry and lived-experience perspectives, helping ensure its message was gentle, accessible and grounded in both dignity and biblical truth.

Made on Purpose became the first story from The Beloved Woods™ and the beginning of a much larger vision for Bel🩷ved Study Co.

Why I Founded Bel🩷ved Study Co.

Bel🩷ved Study Co. is a Christian publishing and creative studio built around faith, identity, belonging, accessibility and joy.

I founded Bel🩷ved to create the resources I longed to see more of in the world:

Christ-centred stories that speak gently to children
Neurodivergent-affirming books and resources
Beautiful products with genuine purpose
Colourful expressions of faith and joy
Welcoming experiences for children and families
Creative work that never relies on fear, shame or pressure

I believe Christian creativity can be warm, colourful, expressive and full of life.

I believe children deserve excellent writing, thoughtful design and meaningful representation.

I believe parents, teachers and ministry leaders should be able to find resources that are both beautiful and biblically grounded without having to create everything themselves.

And I believe accessibility is hospitality—it is not optional.

My Approach to Children

Children do not need to perform for me.

They do not need to sit perfectly still, make eye contact, answer a question, join an activity or respond in a particular way to prove that they are listening or that an experience has mattered.

Some children join in enthusiastically.

Some observe quietly.

Some move while they listen.

Some need to step away and return.

Some take the story home and process it days later.

Every one of those responses can be valid.

Whether I am writing a book, planning an author visit or creating a resource, I prioritise:

Emotional and sensory safety
Predictability and clear structure
No-pressure participation
Respectful, affirming language
Different communication and learning styles
Dignity, belonging and genuine welcome
Biblically grounded, Christ-centred truth

I want children to leave an encounter with my work feeling encouraged—not corrected for being themselves.

Faith at the Centre

God is at the centre of my life and the work of Bel🩷ved Study Co.

I do not always know what the complete plan looks like. Much of this journey has involved taking one faithful step, offering God what is already in my hands and trusting Him with what comes next.

I am learning that obedience is not the same as striving.

Faithfulness does not always mean producing more.

Sometimes stewardship looks like creating.

Sometimes it looks like serving.

Sometimes it looks like resting, recovering and trusting God enough to leave something unfinished until tomorrow.

Bel🩷ved is being built one prayer, one story and one faithful yes at a time.

When I’m not writing or adding another idea to an already ambitious project list, you may find me:

Spending time outdoors with my family
Planning an adventure or established-trail walk
Creating colourful designs
Developing resources for children and families
Drinking tea with far too many tabs open
Talking to God about the next step
Being followed around by Jireh—or one of our other six fur babies
Attempting to work while three cats and four dogs supervise
Discovering that one small job has somehow become an entire new collection 😂

I love colour, nature, animals, story, joyful design and the kind of creativity that makes people feel more alive.

My home and my work are both layered, warm, expressive and full of personality. Beige—and personal space—were never going to survive here for very long. 😂🩷
